About Us
Sadhana Nrityalaya is a Bharatanatyam training Institute established in 1991 by Guru Shumita Mahajan with the sole intention of imparting training in the traditional art form to young enthusiasts.
Strict adherence to traditional repertoire following the Kalakshetra teaching pedagogy while also experimenting with novel themes and contexts is the mode of operation at this Institute. Sadhana has over the past three decades managed to carve a niche for itself as an Institute that has a discerning eye for qualitative work.
Its Production wing is one of the forerunners in performing units having presented enthralling productions across the globe.
Be it presentations, performances, Training or Research, Sadhana ensures a 360 degrees approach towards the Classical Arts.
Shumita Mahajan, Principal Founder of the Sadhana Center for Performing Arts is a well-known, dance Guru, choreographer, dance critic and scholar hailing from Pune who has to her credit many productions and showcases which have won her acclaim both in India and abroad. A classical dancer by training Shumita has represented India in International festivals across the globe and has won many laurels. Recently she was awarded the Jayadeva Rashtriya Puraskar, a National Award instituted by the Ministry of Culture, Odisha. She is also a recipient of ‘Puneri Salaam award 2018’ for her contribution to the field of traditional art forms.
