Sadhana Nrityala was established in the year 1991 by Guru Shumita Mahajan for imparting Bharatanatyam training. The Institute has in the past 3 decades grown into a name to reckon with the field of Indian Classical Dance. Many acclaimed productions and artistes of caliber today bear testimony to the Institute’s holistic training.

The Institute has over 30 solo performing artistes trained and presented at their Arangetrams. It has also produced many dance ballets to its credit, both in the traditional as well as innovative segments. Geet Ramayan, Meera, Krishnaleela, Jay Jay Maharashtra Mazha, Dhara series (Dhara, Dhara 2.0, Dhara Legacy), are just some of the gems that have been developed from the Sadhana stable.

Many Tagore creations have been interpreted through Bharatanatyam with Sadhana team having staged many Tagore dance dramas, notable being, Shyama, Shapmochon, Bhanushingher Padavali, Chandalika, Nataraj, Chitangada amongst others. The Institute’s Performing Unit is sought after with Guru Shumita Mahajan’s unique choreographies winning much acclaim from connoisseurs.

Various festivals have been the backdrop of Sadhana Nrityalaya’s productions. The team has performed at festivals like Shaniwarwada festival at Pune, Omkareshwar trust at Pune, Jayadeva Rashtriya Samaroha at Bhubaneshwar, Kalasangam festival at Rourkela, India Festivals at Italy, France, Singapore and more. The team has been invited to perform at various temples across the country. They have performed at the Shree Moogambika temple (Kollur), Shree Udupi temple (Udupi), Guruvayoor temple (Kerala), Shree Krishna Dhyana Mandir (Pune), Shree Mariamman temple (KL, Malaysia), Shree Sunderaja Perummal Temple (KL, Malaysia) amongst others.

Sadhanas productions are also very popular with Corporate houses and Sadhana regularly creates unique, contemporary themes presented in the classical idiom. Some of its novel creations include Rochana-Let the Lotus Bloom, Love, Shashwat, Ma Tujhe Salam and Indradhanush.
